The Well of Inspiration History & Mythology History of Druidism & The Mythology of the Irish *MUCH MORE TO COME ON THIS PAGE SOON!* The Five Mythological Invasions of Eire: Partholan -The Partholans seem to have come from the area of Greece, the islands nearby, or northern Mediterranean regions. They are said to have expanded the land of Eire, and added lakes (reclaiming land, and using Dikes?!) Nemedh -The Nemedians were probably from the area of Greece, the islands nearby, or northern Mediterranean regions. They too are said to have expanded Eire, and added lakes. Could this refer to the receeding waters one of the ice-ages, or ice-cap meltings? All sorts of theories there, all of them different. Fir Bolg "Bag Men"; "Men of the Bags" -Amongst these peoples: , Fir Dannon and others, mostly refered only as the Fir Bolg. Tribes from the area of Spain primarily Celto-Iberian most likely. Tuatha de Danann -They brought the 4 treasures: Stone of Fál, Lugh's spear, Dagda's cauldron, The Sword of Virtue. An ancient race of Ireland, they are the Irish "gods". There is debate as to the origins of these folk, the "shining ones". Wise, skilled folk. Debate has origins varying from Some have them as Danes, as Scandinavians... from the area of northern India, and Pakistan. Milesians -Led by the Great Druid Amargain, they took Eire from the Tuatha de Danann on Bealtaine. The Sons of Mil, said to be from Spain (probably Celto-Iberian tribes). A map of the megalithic sites in the Boyne Valley Megaliths For so long scholars debated the use, and date-of-construction of these. To mark important times of year(i.e. harvest, spring, mid-summer). The tunneled symbol-covered Newgrange was not a burial tomb in its primary function, rather it appears to mark important times of the year. A map of the megalithic sites in the Boyne Valley
The map above shows what is -to me- the Irish-Druids Mecca, along with Brighid's Well, of course, & the source of the Shannon (Boyne). The next page is The Ancestors
